Hi all,
Some of you might know that I’ve started making beats under a new pseudonym recently: ‘expressway’ (http://www.myspace.com/expresswaybeats (http://www.myspace.com/expresswaybeats)). It came about for a few reasons, but the main idea for now is to make some deep down n dirty instrumental hip hop tracks… You might also know I present a show on Samurai FM called ‘2types’. So for my forthcoming show I decided to be my own guest and put together a mix of the tracks that inspired me to start making beats like the ones I’m making as expressway…
Thanks to the internet, here’s the mix for you to download as an mp3 now!

2. A Repetitive Loop - The Herbaliser (Ninja Tune) 1995
3. Dark Blood - DJ Food (Ninja Tune) 1995
4. The Sound You Hear - The Wiseguys (Wall of Sound) 1996
5. 8 Point Agenda - The Herbaliser feat. Latyrx (Ninja Tune) 1999
6. Beats & Pieces (Mo Bass Remix) - Coldcut (Ahead of Our Time) 1989
7. Remember Me - The Blueboy (Pharm) 1997
8. To the Hip - Bootman (React) 1995
9. Up Against the Wall - Pressure Drop (Hard Hands) 1995
10. Fungle Junk - DJ Food (Ninja Tune) 1995
11. Searching (Roni Size Mix) - Nobukazu Takemura (Toy's Factory) 1995
12. I'll Fly Away - Ballistic Brothers (Junior Boys Own) 1995
13. Solar Feelings - Jacob's Optical Stairway (R&S) 1995
14. Hot Flush (Sabres of Paradise Remix) - Red Snapper (Warp) 1995
15. Bug in the Bassbin (Jazz Mix) - Carl Craig (Mo Wax) 1996
16. What Does Your Soul Look Like? Part 1 - DJ Shadow (Mo Wax) 1994
I was really surprised when I looked at the dates of these tracks how many had come from 1995 – it must have been a good year! I was going to write a bit about the tracks and so on, but I think I’ll let the music do the talking. Hope you enjoy – let me know if you do!
The new 2types will be up soon at Samurai FM (http://www.samurai.fm/2types) with loads and loads of new music to go alongside this stuff.
Cheers,
Tim.
