In dance music 15 minutes is a long time. Styles, scenes, sounds and DJ’s come and go at a frenetic pace as is the nature of the genre but a select few rise above and go the distance.
If 15 minutes is a long time then how about 15 years?
When Shindig threw open it’s doors in 1992 there where race riots in LA, Kurt Cobain married Courtney Love, Prince Charles + Diana divorced, the war in Bosnia began, Right Said Fred and The Shamen battled it out in the charts and the Premier League was formed.
And after 15 years at the forefront of UK clubbing Shindig is without doubt a Premier League club experience.
As the sun sets on it’s14th year Shindig have pulled out all the stops. Over two May Bank Holiday Sundays they have programmed two sumptuous events with lines ups and production surpassing anything they have ever done before.
Part 1 is on Bank Holiday Sunday 6th May at Digital, their spiritual home.
Featuring 15 DJs to celebrate 15 years at the 15th best club in the world (as voted by the leading DJs in DJ Mag. 2007) across 5 rooms of music, including “Shindig’s Secret Garden” – a never before seen room at Digital.
Part 2 is Bank Holiday Sunday 27th May as a major element of Newcastle Gateshead’s Evolution, the North’s major music festival- the event which has become a permanent fixture in clubbers diaries. Shindig at Baltic Square. This year two of the biggest names in dance music - Pete Tong and Deep Dish’s Dubfire take to the stage . Set in the incredible surrounds of Baltic Square flanked by The Sage Gateshead and The Baltic and with entrance across the Millenium bridge this truly is a unique location at which to party. An opportunity to dance on the banks of the Tyne and then party into the small hours at the infamous after party..
