Django's Riff and Minds Eye Media bring you the incredible Joe Driscoll

Creating waves on both sides of the atlantic are the transcendental sounds of modern day one man band, Joe Driscoll. His revolutionary take on music is without boundaries, effortlessly fusing hip-hop, reggae, soul, folk and rock to create a completely original and unique sound. An innovator not only for the genre defying music he plays, but for the groundbreaking way in which he creates it. A true renaissance man, Driscoll is lone man on stage and in studio, yet is able to create the soundscape of a full band utilizing heavy vocal percussion, an array of instruments, a little loop pedal, and alot of imagination. Originally from upstate New York, Driscoll was spotted and signed by London based label Buttercuts Records while touring the U.K. in 2006. The resulting CD/DVD 'Origin Myths' is a synthesis, combining the raw live magic that has made him an international underground legend, captured with a more polished studio craftsmanship while recording. Though the album is a more sculpted sound, producer Pierre Duplans' vision was to keep the live essence of Joe's sound intact. All the drums are beatbox (oral percussion), all the guitars, mbira, and bass are played by Joe. The accompanying DVD features live performances and interviews, enabling viewers to see the style which is easier seen than explained. On a seemingly never ending world tour, the venues and acts Joe has shared the stage with are as diverse as the sounds he creates. From coffeshops to bars, theatres to festivals, crowds are moved by his poignant lyrics, deep rhythms, personal storytelling and funky grooves. He has opened for such divirgent acts as Matisyahu, Coldcut, Regina Spektor, Gym Class Heroes and many more. Driscoll has performed many of the finest venues in both the US and UK, including Cargo, Bowery Ballroom, Bestival, Notting Hill Arts Club, and featured act of the 2005/2006 UK Beatbox Championship. Since the Nov. '06 release of 'Origin Myths', the buzz has been amazing. Selling out massive venues in both London and New York for the release parties, the appeal of this one man magician/musician is undeniable. The overwhelming response from audiences, critics, and industry insiders makes it clear that the future looks bright.

'A sonic wonderkid who creates his 21st century 'folk' live onstage, sample by sample, beat by beat... one to watch.' --Time Out

'If you are looking for innovation, buy this album!' -- Scratch of The Roots

'Lyrics, melodies, instruments. Personal and profound messages. Pure style and creation, you NEED to hear him. He blasts through stereotypes, the pioneer of a completely new approach to making music.' --Subba Cultcha

'An off beat funk folk hero, Joe should rightly be the underground star of the year.' -- Notion Magazine

'Gangsta got an iron lung!' -- Cee-Lo Green (Gnarls Barkley, Goodie Mob)

It was proper quality.

I just about missed Mak, but got to see all of Foe and Joe so that almost made up for it.
I was surprised how long he was on for. I kept thinking "this has gotta be his last one" but he just kept on going.

Good skills.

Joe was a absolute legend! His set time was 1 1/4 hours and he played for over 2 1/2!

Massive thanks to Mak and F.O.E. as well for playing brilliant sets! and thanks again to everyone who came down and made it happen!

Highlight of the night had to be when WhiteNoiseBoy and Keji (Foe's rapper) jumped on for some improved scratching and MCing with Joe...pure gold!
