Common Ground
Magnet 45 Hardman Street, Liverpool, L1 9AS .
Friday November 24th 10pm to 5am
£4 before 12 a.m. £6 after.
The standard of the music at Common Ground is always sky high, but the line up for
Friday November 24th is something else. We’ve invited possibly the best voice in Britain and the country’s most exciting DJ to Liverpool’s premier block party as we hit The Magnet once more.
Alice Russell is the down-to-earth diva who melts hearts and moves feet. Famous for providing vocals for Quantic she has a rare soul voice that commands attention, sounding as if she hails from the deep south of the States rather than the north of England. On stage with her will be TM Juke, super producer from the Tru Thoughts stable who will be fusing live sounds with DJing for what promises to be a special show.
Promising to dig deep for his Liverpool debut is Domu, currently the DJ’s DJ and one of the hottest artists on the underground side of things. Mentored by the Reinforced Records crew in the nineties and producing some of the greatest music of the noughties so far, Domu spins records with passion and precision. Dropping joints across the soul spectrum from broken to boogie and hip hop to house expect the best from the Bedford bad boy.
To finish the evening we have the Jigsawmusic crew coming up from Birmingham. These guys have rocked parties across the country with the knowledge gathered in their own club night that has revitalised Birmingham’s club scene. They are also behind the Jisco series of re-edits that have become sought after pieces of vinyl during this past year, Jigsaw rock right now.
As usual we flex the Funktion One until 5am and it’s only £4 before midnight, but I’m sure you know the drill by now. See you by the speakers.
