Wow, I had a great time last night. It felt good to hear the phrase "There's a queue past Mello Mello" and to see the main room grooving to some great music. Like going back 10 years to Nation's hey-day.

I really enjoyed my set, the most comfortable I've ever felt behind the decks in such a large space. I got to roadtest music from pals like Chris Barker, Tim Scott and Si Murray on a rude system before getting stuck into a blend of forgotten classics and some great sounds from the here and now. I really enjoyed playing everything from 80s groove to deep techno, twisted hip hop and camp disco. Dance music is a big pallette to paint from. I gave everyone a taste of my varied taste and really enjoyed working such a great soundsystem, the main room has never sounded better. Gotta thank the Chibuku peeps for giving me another memorable gig.

I've lost count of the amount of times I've heard Scruff play, in all manner of venues and to very different crowds, and he never fails to amaze. He turned up stinking of pies and tea, giving me a tweak on the nipples as he took over control. His set was a stonk-plod marathon of ultimate bass and grinding slo-mo beats, all dripping with soul and infused with funk. He hit us with his rhythm stick good and proper.

I saw loads of familiar faces, plenty of my posse made the journey and made my night. A shout goes out to Mark Rowlands and his peeps who always turn up at the really special gigs, the lights flashing on his wheelchair when the tunes got really hot. It was rammed in there, you really do forget how crazy Nation can be.

I never made it to the end of the night, but got a text off someone who knows their music saying that Henrik Schwartz did the business, and I also heard the No Fakin boys destroyed the Annexe with their violin-toting super-set. It's a shame Q-Bert didn't make it, but Chibuku did an amazing job to line up C2C at such short notice. I stayed out of the whole 2 Many DJs thang, but heard Tane warmed tings up proper, he also looked well slick. You could tell he meant business.

Was impressed with the night on the whole, bravo to all involved.

You really did look like you were having fun up there Mr Charnock :) Good to see; music wasnt bad either :P

Yeah shame about the Acts that couldnt make it, but not a lot that could have been done by Chibuku really, poor agents/ management; shitty uk work permits.

Nothing much to add to this thread as I weren't in there and had some other business to attend to....except to say I think Tane is absolutely ridiculous and agree he's got the champion sound.

Also my friends who are die-hard house heads....who did go....are starting to really get into the No Fakin' sound having seen them for the first time at Creamfields. They're gaining a biggger fan base from people who (forgive my patronising) I wouldn't have thought would be that much into them.

The lads/ladies were propper raving about them.

Was well amused at Public Enemy when No Fakin' whipped out the violin.

We thought he was just taking the piss until Phat Phil explained he's classically trained and they're always doing it :)

They were excellent last time they played upstairs (I think) in the Masque.

The main room was a treat all night but I did wonder why there was a serious lack of hair on any of the DJ's. I think the courtyard bands/dj's more than made up for it though :D

had a good night, C2C were wicked and Pendulum and Futurebound smashed it.

Vibe in the main room was lovely too.

Steered clear of courtyard cos it's not my thing.

2 Minor complaints though.

Was the air con broke in the annexe because it was disgustingly hot in there, Id say the room was not much busier than when Andy C played the birthday and I was stood in the same place, but last night kept having to duck out to the fire escape every ten mins to cool down. It was horrible.

Also is there anyway to ensure Nation do not turn the taps off in the toilets? I feel disgusting not being able to wash my hands after a wee.

How dare you swerve the No Fakin' DJ's!!! Glad y'all enjoyed it, we're flattered. The Violin and drum machine sounded super bad on that system and Kwinzola pulled out some real gems to keep us on our toes!!! Shut up and Dance never sounded so good!!!

Thought DJ EASE from Nightmares on Wax smashed it too...the Annexe was were it was at!!! Scruff and Charnock rocked it too!!! Ian Dury anthems complete with visuals....impressive!!!

Cheers Lads!!!
