DR RUBBERFUNK headlines @ THE ITCH N SCRATCH, Magnet, this Friday (13/10).
For those who dont know... he's just dropped his second LP and has completed a number of remixes and reworks for artists such as The Fort Knox Five, Spooky Monkey, Malente, Poets Of Rhythm and Skalpel.
Expect anything from up tempo disco bass grooves to old-school block party hip-hop, guaranteed to get feet moving. Only £3 in all night. Theres a full DJ profile on Outlar.
Heres a few press / DJ quotes on his past releases...
'... a delicious dose of grooveacious, rug-cutting cool, big bossa swing and B-movie soundtrack sleaze, marking the place where Funkadelic meets DJ Shadow, Lalo Schifrin, Herbie Hancock and The Pharcyde ... Roll up your sleeve and wait for that needle to drop.'
Timeout London
'On a par with club jazz classics like St.Germain ... borrowing from hip-hop, funk, latin music and jazz - always with the jazz. Like Lemon Jelly or The Avalanches but, thankfully, without the wackiness.'
The Independent On Sunday
'A fine, fine album ... fusing live instrumentation with samples and synthetics in a wonderfully colourful jazz/funk/beats tapestry ...' - IDJ
'An easy beat-bastic display of instrumental grown-up b-boy tracks ...' - Straight No Chaser
'... a cohesive album that thumps, scratches and slinks, packed with deep basslines and funky rhythms, jazzy noodling and fat beats.' - Mixmag
'Twelve tracks that put you in a good mood, whether it's going out time, hometime, bathtime or bedtime, Dr.Rubberfunk is flexible' - Update
'The First Cut is simply astounding, taking us on a magical journey through modern day mellow soul, funk, jazz and blues ... one of the freshest albums of the year ...' - Pixelsurgeon.com
'Think about combining Zero 7, Kruder & Dorfmeister and perhaps Andy Smith, and you start to create the sound that is Dr.Rubberfunk.' - Future Music
‘Accomplished debut from the hardest workin' man in showbiz… after me! (Rob Da Bank – Radio One)
‘You can tell straight off that this has been put together with a lot of TLC. Quality music all the way through packed with strong ideas. A Quality LP that deserves to do well!' (Only Child & Una Bombers - Electric Chair/Grand Central)
‘Latin Player and Bossa for the Devil are still the ones for me. The loop in Hundred and One Keys is awesome, in fact the whole track is awesome… Stay Strong is also wicked… excellent album.' (LTJ Bukem – Good Lookin' Recs)
