2types mixtape with Bugz in the Attic feature

So I'm back from the depths of Africa after just over a couple of weeks... I took some time between jobs to do something useful in the world (and squeeze in a couple of days chilling too!).

Anyway, life-changing experiences aside, while I was away my second Samurai mixtape was uploaded (www.samurai.fm/2types) and features some great music (I would say that, wouldn't I, but it's TRUE!) from the likes of Lyric L (produced by MdCL), Opolopo taking on Sugar Beats, Sergio Mendes and Steve Austin.

Plus, I got so excited by the imminent release of the first proper BUGZ IN THE ATTIC LP that I went Bugz mad and devoted half the show to a mix up selection of my favourite Bugz tracks and mixes old and new, from the Macy Gray remix to 'Tell Dem Ras' to their classic 4 Hero and Jazzanova remixes to 'Zombie' ("Bugz in the Attic... creating no static..."). It's difficult to overstate the influence this crew have had on making me start to make beats again - so now you know who to blame!

Sugar Beats 'Tickled Zinc' (Opolopo Remix)
Just how good is this record?! Completely all over the place in style - a bit of dub, samba and a mad jazz bassline that wouldn't sound out of place on a Squarepusher track. I got the Bugz album this week too which has its moments. Looking forward to hearing them live again in a couple of weeks at the Big Chill. Also picked up Quango 'Frantic Moment', Good Good sampler3, Bloodfire 4 and Soil & Pimp Session 'Pimp Master.' Niiiice.
