this looks ace!
pray for good weather 8)
Remember to take your own drink as there wasn't a beer tent last year.
Which meant a quick detour to Lark Lane.
I sadly couldn't hear anything from The Albert's beer garden.

We took our own drink and our own doobies. We sat down on the grass, enjoying all that nature and African music had to offer us. We lit the bifta and had a few tokes then it pissed down. When I say pissed down I MEAN PISSED DOWN! Thunder and downpores of biblical proportions. Needless to say everyone ran for cover. We had to run home. I've never been so wet, except when I was watchin England play Hungary the other day
It was bloody lovely on Lark Lane.
You must've stolen that black cloud that normally follows me around over my head.

Africa Oye is an amazing event to have in Liverpool, normally for something as unique as this you'd have to travel to London without a doubt. I've got a lot of respect for all those involved for having the foresight and drive to put on something as big and as culturally innovative as this in Liverpool-I know from experience how hard it can be chasing people for funding!
The Magnet gig on the Friday night will be the perfect warm up to the main event so please come down and show your support. We expect this to be busy so get there early...

Lets hope the weather is as nice for it as it was over the weekend, can't beat chilling in the park in the sun listening to some laidback tunes.
Friday night will be special too as it'll be the only chance to see bands like these in such intimate surroundings. Niiiiiiice

It will indeed Philly! Get there early for the bands, gig starts at 8pm:
NURU KANE - Senegal
Most modest singers ‘fit’ their voices to a music form like a lost soul in need of a decent burial, (no names), others, the very great, just sing and their voice defines their music. Nuru Kane is a very great singer. Aware of the culture of West Africa, (from Medina, Senegal), very aware of North African culture, of Saharan crossings, of Sufis, of what in his music can be tried, pushed, shoved, invented, or rediscovered. He excels, writes smashing songs, is a bearer of new African music, and ready to go anywhere.
EYUPHURO - Mozambique
On the Isle of Mocambique off the NE coast of Mocambique is a World Heritage Site, a beautiful wee chapel, a mosque, a Hindu temple, and from fisher folk the lady Zena Bakar, often known as Mama Mosambiki from a wonderful song she wrote and sang magnificently, so that the world noted this Whirlwind from a far place... Eyuphuro is whirlwind in local talk. Zena is coming with the other Band leaders Omar and Belarmino, as well as Orlando on sax and Mahamudo on keyboards. Legends all.
