DJ Shadow called us a few weeks ago to extoll his excitement about a new movement in hip hop. Hailing from the bay area, Shadow wants to be the person that breaks this sound with a few exclusive shows across the world. Its more urban than back pack and very high energy.

I'm not sure people are gonna be ready for this, but it's gonna be sick. Basically this genre is like a more up tempo, almost techy version of Crunk....but based around mad fucked up basslines and mad bleeps.

Some people aren't gonna get it but if you were into those fucked up 808 bass kicks and the rolling 303 sounds off the Masta Ace - 'Born to Roll' album, then you're in for a treat. It sounds fuckin' amazing coming out of a club system....and as Rich said it's high energy. Will be interesting to see how the 'buku crowd react.

My advice is follow me in getting off me head and buggin' out.

It will be interesting to see how Shadow and his friends will put this forward as it's more than a music it's a whole culture involving crump dancing and muscle cars....so I wonder if he'll bring the dancers with him.

Very impressed with Rich putting this on actually. Respect.

E40's a great westcoast gangster rapper. Unfortunately I can't forgive him for the mental scaring left by the godawful 'Sprinkle me', where some dumb R'n'B ho sang "Tell me E40....will you sprinkle me???"......and wanting to assasinate him.

I'll let him off 'cos that hype tune is sick though.

People should be looking out for a dude by the name of Messy Marv, coming out of San Fran....fuckin' mental shit!
