I'm buying some books from Amazon and if I add 82p to the order I get free delivery.

I might as well buy another book, but i'm a lazy man and can't be arsed thinking for myself....so I thought i'd open up the door for my ukhh.com chums to choose one for me.

Your reccomendations then please (and i've already got 'Last Night a DJ Saved My Life')........

I'm currently considering:
Mourinho

Be fucking serious. He writes ripping yarns but his prose is infantile.

Mourinho biography would be interesting. The best bigraphy I've ever read was Jeffrey Archer: Stranger than fiction by Tom Crick. At the end of the book, you really should abhor him all the more but you don't.

I've finally got round to reading the Da Vinci Code, not sure what all the fuss was about. Fair enough it's written cleverly but I'm more frustrated the more I read. I can't be bothered reading the rest to find out I want to know now! (that is NOT a request for the answers before anyone thinks they're funny and spoils it. I'll find out myself in time.)

Jasper Fforde has captured my imagination recently, his Thursday Next series is great fun.

I'll definitely give this a go. His Otis Lee Crenshaw show is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Poor random chosen in the audience was a Police Inspector and obviously on a date with someone other than his wife.

basically if u like hiphop then get the ego trip book of rap lists, its the most impressive tome ever, simply the hiphop bible! also, just read pablo cuelho's the alchemist which is awesome, and if u want some old school classy novel ish then you could do a lot worse than plump for f scott fitzgeralds the great gatsby, amazing.

da vinci code is a great page turner but brown is full of shit, rather appropiate surname infact. and as for arguing with two bestsellers, i'll think u'll find that westlife have as a lot of bestsellers, which makes that a nonsensical argument if there ever was one!

Richard Pryors autobiography is funny as clowns, nab it. Alternately go to Oxfam and buy cheap books from there. For an eerie twist make sure that the previous owner of the book is deceased and use their skin cells to recreate them. Wait a few years and take them round to see their family. For shock value this trick is a 10/10!

Esau - Phil Kerr. - not a classicby any stretch of the imagination, but entertaining non the less.
THe Singing Mermaid - Val McDermid - the hunt for a homo killer.
One Flew over the Cuckoos nest - excellent.

I could list a few more but I cant be arsed.

yeah, much better than the film.

Its always good to watch the movie and then read the book. I find this works much better. Tother way round always leaves you empty as the film can never recreate what you think is happening. A film only brings out what the Director believes/imagines is occuring in scenes, where as we are allowed to bring our on perspective to the story and the characters. However, I think books such as Lord of the rings did ok in the film, as the scenery and the settings are so abnormal, it can be difficult to imagine what the author was trying to describe.

anyway, ramble over.

Ego Trip is THE best book ever written about Hip-Hop. Sounds like it should be shite, after all it's just a book full of lists, but it contains gems on every single page.

RA the Rugged Man reveals his top 10 ways to get dropped by a record label.

Personalitys pictured on the Tribe Called Quest 'Midnite Mauraders' LP>
Kool Keiths favourite places to pleasure himself in public.
12 peices of evidence that 2 Pac is still alive.
99 "nigga" songs.
99 "bitch" songs.
Strech Armstrongs most embarrasing moments as a white DJ in Hip-Hop.

i'm sure there are plenty of better books out there for the so called intellectuals amongst us - and i think ur both a bit harsh for declaring readers of dan brown books as "simple" and as "idiots" cos i'm certainly not an "idiot" or "simple" - far from it

Hunter s. Thompson's the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas author's autobiography is pretty funny/mad, enjoyed that.

KINGDOM OF FEAR its called. Worth a look

Anyone wants to borrow it, then just PM me, and so long as you aint gonna rob it, your more than welcome...

WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY RANDOM IDEA....
wouldn't a book share thing be cool... i.e. Borrow a book that you haven't read, but have sitting there collecting dust, to someone else vice versa...

It costs next to nothing to post and relies simply on honesty. Then everyone swaps books for a bit, for the price of a few stamps...

Anyone fancy that?

Just finished 'Porno' by Irvine Welsh - gut sheisse and very readable, albeit the somewhat harsh Scottish accents.

One my faves in recent months is 'The Rules of Attraction' by Bret Easton Ellis- wonderfully dark and dry. Much much better than the film which I also enjoyed too.

I found Porno v.good. a worthy sequel to Trainspotting. If you haven't read Filth by Irvine Welsh i recommend it as well.

The very 1st time i read one of his books it took me a while to get round the phonetic way in which it is written. But eventually it makes for a much better read
