where would we be without it? Possibly the most influencial bit of kit for dance music. the sounds don't cease to amaze me. wish i had one. there's only so much fun to be had with rebirth without the "hands-on" experience.

I have the MC303 and it is great for getting ideas down when they are in your head, very to the beat and bar though and you have to get it on the right bpm for your tune. The sound on them is headturning even today esp with the bass boost knob. I may even take it out tonite for a jam if I feel cheeky, just dont wanna get arrested for creating unadulterated madness.

u can get hardware 303 copies if u look around, i dont just mean the Groovebox series, there are some branded clones knocking about... the 303 is seriously dated now tho really, and why would anyone want to pay £400+ for a synth that makes one noise? the standard of emulation software wise is bringing the prices off all those old analogue bits and bobs down slowly but surely..

rebirth is a bit dung, should try the Muon Bro's 303 clone, cant remember its name, moonfish or something strange... plus ther are a couple of others about that do the job pretty well....

certainly had its place in dance music but their are certainly bits of kit that have done alot more for electronic music as a whole than the 303, the 303's main explosion was Acid house... the 808 was alot more influential in terms of hiphop, ghetto, electro etc a few years before the big acid house explosion... and not forgetting even bigger electronic advances of the time such as the Moog, the Proteus etc etc

and not forgetting the good old 909 and 707's of course, and the 606 for the ultimate electro spotter

Theres a Masta Ace tune called Born 2 Roll which in my opinion is one of the illest displays of the 808 i've ever heard. Check it out if you haven't heard it, it's fuckin' ace.

I think rebirths excellent, it sounds amazing. Shame you can use it as a VST rather than a stand alone programme. I rewired it through ableton but wasnt really that user friendly...
