Now, I think they should be in it, it's ridiculous to not be able to defend it and I think they WILL get in it.

HOWEVER...

'fair play to Liverpool'? Fair is playing by the rules and the rules state they don't get in.

hasnt it happened before where real madrid were in the same position and did get in but some other shitty team didnt when they won it

That was true, but La Liga made Zaragoza (?) forfeit their place who finished in the fourth spot.... that was at the Spanish Domestic league's discretion.

I'd buzz for us having 5 times present in the Champions League, but not at the expense of another team, that just isn't cricket. :?

yes this did happen and Zaragoza (who finished in fourth spot) were ckucked out of the Champions league and that season they got relegated too!

Its true that we didnt make 4th place but exceptions need to be made in the circumstances. The Champions leauge will lose credibility if the champions are not in it, its quite simple. If you ask me, they should just drop everton and put the champions in their place :twisted:

Because last year the FA said that if a team won the champions league but didn't finish in the top 4, they WOULD still get into the Champions league the following year. Yeah, but if it was just the champions Liverpool would never have won it in the first place! Speaking as a die hard Evertonian I wouldn't want us to win the CL without knocking Liverpool out first! :D LOL.

No. This isn't about 'defending' their title. This is about money. If it wasn't about money then why wasn't their just as big drama about them defending their UEAFA Cup title? 'cos they were in the Champions League and therefore making more MONEY.

How can you win the Champions League when trying to finish fourth in the polzy premiership these days.

Real underachieve in the league when they win the CL. Arsenal do the opposite. We'll be in it next year, the sponsors will kick off big time. Imagine Liverpool's pics all over the promotional gear if they have been treated badly and fallen out with UEFA.

Face facts, if you had finished in the top 4 (by beating the mighty southampton and norwich) then we wouldn't have been having this discussion. Thats all it would have taken. All this 'we chose greatness' is bollocks at the end of the day. If you don't get in (and I think you should be in) then you have nobody to blame but yourselves. Should there be a rule for teams, that if they decide to go for greatness by winning the Champions League and sacrificing their own league position then they should be allowed into the Champions League? What a ridiculous statement.
