EVERTON Football Club could be placed into administration by the end of the new season.

Barclays Bank has told Everton it will not extend its overdraft beyond the current £5m facility and has warned it could face administration if it oversteps its limit.

The club had the latest in a series of meetings with Barclays yesterday, as millionaire director Paul Gregg launched a charm offensive among fans' groups in the latest round of his power struggle with chairman Bill Kenwright.

Gregg wants Kenwright to dissolve True Blue Holdings, which owns 72% of Everton, and says he can bring in £15m of new investment.

Having just banked the summer's season ticket sales and TV money, the club is unlikely to face immediate difficulties, but, with a £30m mortgage to service, a crippling wage bill, and transfer debts to other clubs, the problems will deepen as the season wears on.

If Everton is placed into administration, it would have nine league points deducted and be prevented from buying players.

Link please?, if this is the case then surely a lot more clubs will be going into administration, correct me if I'm wrong but I heard that beside from Man U, Liverpool and Chelski all the other premiership clubs were operating under some form of loss :?

I assume that it means that Everton, because of the financil mess they are in, are more at risk of defaulting on their loan repayments, and this risk will increase as the season goes on.

Ha ha. Just dragged this one out of the doldrums. All you red noses, do you want to eat your words now or later. Everton for Europe. You better believe it.

Liverpool are nothing, take away Stevie Gerrard and you are just a mediocre team same as the rest of the premiership. With the exception of Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea.

As for the blues fans switching teams? Get real, they'd support Tranmere before they'd follow you lot.

Davey Moyes can do no wrong in my eyes. Quite what happened last year i don't know, i blame the board. When he eventually gets his hands on the dosh, that should have been apparant at the beginning of last season to be honest, he will spend it wisely for sure. He knows whats what. Scott Parker would be a good buy, if what the papers say is correct.

agreed re scott parker, he is just what everton need right now. think he would like to come if we can maintain our decent start.

and agreed about moyes. him and sam allerdyce must be regarded as possibily the leagues best managers. they can do the business without absolutely fuck all funds, which begs to wonder what they potentially could do with decent resourses. and hahahahahahaha to the mouthy red earlier on in the thread. what a flop benitez is already proving to be. not that its all his fault mind, anyone with an ounce of knowledge coulds see that he inherited a shite squad. over the past few seasons owen and gerrard have been carrying your over rated shithouse team and that is now being proven. :D 8)

Great to see Everton doing so well after last season, the financial difficulties and the distasteful Rooney saga.

Liverpool are a team in transition. Judge them in a year's time.

Man U are on the slide despite some great players. But my god, they've bought some duds too for well over the odds.

I reckon Febregas (Arsenal) wil prove the revelation of this season. Only 17 and runs the midfiield like a seasoned international. I can't see Arsenal not winning this year.

Pete1

Liverpool are suffering from short sightedness. They like alot of other teams, think that the only way for a team to move forward is with a foreign coach. Which is absolute bollocks. There are loads of really good british coaches/ managers who are easily as good if not better, understand the english style of football inside out and therefore need no time to "adapt" and are available for a fraction of the salary of these apparantly superior foreign coaches.

The only foreign manger in the premiership who is regarded a success in English football is Arsene Wenger, who certainly has the midas touch. He takes relative unkowns and turns them into gold. Febregas being one of them, Ljundberg is another, and look at Henry bought him from Juventus where he was an out of sorts winger and turned him into the worlds best striker, genius!

Benitez will crash and burn, along with Houlier before him. If Liverpool want to suceed they have to resort back to the boot room method. I had alot of respect for that, grudging respect mind.

Nevermind, just watch Everton go now, with fresh investment on its way, and finally the right manger at the helm after years in the widerness. The only way is up.

Davey Moyes is top. Hands off, liverpool, he's at the peoples club. Watch and learn though.

Honestly, some blue-noses don't half come out with some s.hite.

Everton have made a fantastic start to the season. Fair play to them. Do you honestly think that you will finish 3rd? Get real.

Some people are talking like their troubles are over. Far from it. You're just lucky that you've got a decent manager with a bit of fight in him.

As for Liverpool, last season was one of the worst I can remember. Mr Benitez has my patience and trust. Let's see where the teams are at the end of the season.

No i know we won't finish 3rd. I also know that we, by no means are a great side. But i am just saying that Liverpool aren't either. Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd are the only teams in the premiership that you could class as great teams, as much as it pains me to say it in man utd's case. All the other 17 teams merge together into a big mixing pot of mediocrity.

In Evertons case, i'm just happy with them being one of the best mediocre teams at the moment. As for Liverpool, they still have ideas above their station. They are both big clubs with alot of history of past glories but i'm afraid they are no where near being a good team.

The premiership is constantly being portrayed as the best league in the world, but that is absolute rubbish. Anyone who saw Blackburn take on Charlton the other week can see that... awful, absolutly terrible!

This optimism from Everton fans is laughable.

Fair play, you have done well. You have a very strong tactic, a bank of 4 then five and a big man up front; very discplined. But there is a shortage of quality players.

I hope you do well, if you finish in the top 7 or so it will be good for football in this region and for the english game as a whole.

If I'm not mistaken...

wasn't it liverpool playing five in midfield and a big grock up front?

Apparently they took Mellor out the back and shot him afterwards.

Being a neutral here, I can say only one thing. Some of the correspondence in here has been MEAN SPIRITED.

How long is it since Everton sat 2nd in the League at this time of the year?
How much money did Moyes have to spend in the summer?
Who lost their best playyer, and had no time to replace him?

At least Rafa Benitez showed quite how generous spirited he was. The guy is a borm winner and therefore a sore loser. But was openly and utterly fulsome in congratulating Davie Moyes at the final whistle.

I am loving every minute.

I thought that us blue noses might start getting a bit of praise now and its quite nice to hear at least a few peeps who aren't bitter or jealous giving us some.

But in the main, no-one really gives us a second thought and its just the way we like it.
Proving someone wrong is one of the best motivations you can get.

Moyes is quality, doesn't mince his words and speaks the bare truth, which he gets ultimate respect for.
That is being shown in his team, who are actually playing like one.

Long may it continue

We watched it down the local and honest to god the reds just couldn't take it! They spat their dummy out and sulked about the place. It was hilarious.

I had a bet with my mate for a tenner. When i told him to pay up, he said "fook off" and stormed out. Ha ha ha ha. Nevermind i'm not bothered we'll just have double or quits on the anfield derby.
