But does anyone idea how much extractor fans use in terms of wattage? Christ I'm twenty-one and I'm asking questions like that. Still, my friend seems to have a obcessive nature with one in our house and for reasons which I shant go into. Any ideas? I've tried looking at extractor fan 'specs' on the internet but no one seems concerned about it, obviously. However I know fans generally are extensive in their electricity consumption therefore I want to find out to see whether or not I'm paying through the nose.

dont think they do but it depends on the size and what room its in. when they're running i dont think they use excessive leccy but for the brief moment u turn them on there is like a surge (called an inductive spike i think)

but seriously they use about a 1/3 or 1/4 the amount of a 100watt light bulb, your stereo propably uses more power to reach one speaker......unless you're using the daddy of all extractor fans... :twisted:

of course i could be wrong, but i do a fair bit of electronics on my course...

so if u wanna be really geeky (like me) u cud work out how efficient your extractor fan is in terms of its power usage over time etc.....or u could just go the pub
