What an excellent party at the Roadhouse on Saturday! Atjazz played some exceptional deep house and the vibe in the roadhouse was perfect - Thanks to all who attended. After leaving Mint Lounge it was great to get back into Development again, our brief hiatus was never going to be a permanent thing, we were merely waiting for a new challenge and thankfully that has arrived.
We've decided to celebrate our third birthday in October with a very special party at a brand new state of the art venue with a stone cold house music legend: Glenn Underground.
Glenn’s music has been a major feature in Development sets by residents and guests alike since we began. A bit of history on the man: Glenn was raised on disco classics and freeform jazz in Chicago's Southside, the place where house music was born. Taking inspiration from Chicago's original pioneers, Larry Heard, Ron Hardy, Lil' Louis, and the like, Glenn has produced some of the most well respected deep house music of the past fifteen years. His releases for seminal labels such as Cajual, Prescription, Guidance and Peacefrog set the standard for sophisticated dance music. He is one of the few DJ's who can walk the line between deep jazz house, disco influenced house, and the kind of classics featured at the legendary parties of late 70's Chicago: just how we like it. We’ve been after booking Glenn for a long time and we think this is going to be an outstanding night.
The venue for this party is the brand new Spektrum, a 350 capacity club with a Phazon/Funktion One sound system (for those who don't know this is going to make the music sound very good indeed) and an amazing LED lighting system very similar to the famous Watergate club in Berlin. The club is set to become the 'best small club in the UK' (their words) and if you ask us, it's just what Manchester has been missing. They've drafted in our friends at Socio Rehab in the Northern Quarter to operate the bar there, so expect cocktails and good drinks all round. The venue is based on Radium Street next door to Sankeys, off Ancoats. ( For info on the club http://www.spektrumclub.info )
We are now running our club tickets through http://www.skiddle.com - thanks to the cheaper £1 booking fee for all tickets. Tickets for our birthday are already on sale on the link below and with a limited capacity, buying tickets is strongly recommended.
